New Zealand is a long (990 miles) and narrow (250 miles) country, with over 9,000 miles of coastline. There are two high mountain peaks, with Mt. Ruapehu (over 9,000 ft) in the North Island and Mt. Cook (over 12,000 ft) in the South Island.
